Greenwich Schools Closed Friday For Storm

GREENWICH, Conn. — Greenwich Public Schools changed its earlier decision and will now be closed Friday, due to the blizzard-like conditions expected later in the day, officials said.

The school district had announced Thursday evening that they would dismiss early.

Students will now have to attend school on April 19, which was originally scheduled as the final day of April break. Because of the days lost from Superstorm Sandy, the Board of Education voted to remove one day of April break for every subsequent snow day.

Strong winds and snow from 10 to 16 inches is forecast for Fairfield County beginning Friday, with conditions worsening Friday night and blizzard conditions predicted. The snow should end Saturday afternoon.

Greenwich Catholic School also changed its decision to dismiss early and will now be closed Friday. The Stanwich School will be closed, as well as Convent of the Sacred Heart.
