Greenwich Schools Chief Appoints New Humanities Program Coordinator

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Antoinette Fornshell has been appointed as the Humanities Program  Coordinator, Pre K-12 for the Greenwich Public Schools, by Superintendent of Schools William McKersie, according to a district release.

Fornshell is currently the K-12 Literacy Curriculum Coordinator for the Darien Public Schools, Darien. An educator  for 26 years, Fornshell has had extensive experience as a  teacher, an administrator, curriculum coordinator, Teachers College Reading and Writing Project staff developer, reading specialist, and published author.

“I am pleased to welcome Antoinette Fornshell as the  newest member of our leadership team. She brings a proven expertise in the Humanities, the workshop model, and in helping principals and teachers to perform at the highest level possible," McKersie said in a statement. "Ms. Fornshell has a wonderfully warm manner that all who work with her find inspiring.”

Fornshell will be responsible for the English/Language Arts and Social Studies program areas from Preschool  through grade 12. She will oversee the core curriculum, common assessments, universal instructional  practices, and professional development for these Humanities areas.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education  from the University of Rhode Island in 1987 and a Master's Degree in reading from Western Connecticut State University in 1994. She has worked in Darien since 2006.
