Brenda Brush was named the new vice principal of Julian Curtiss School, filling the vacancy left by outgoing vice principal Gene Schmidt.

Brush leaves the position of district program coordinator for mathematics. That position was eliminated as part of the Central Office Reorganization that was part of the 2013-14 school budget.

Schmidt was recently promoted to principal of Cos Cob School, creating the vacancy.

“Ms. Brush’s experience in elementary education, instructional coaching and administration will serve the Julian Curtiss School community well in achieving their goals for continuous improvement," Greenwich Superintendent of Schools William McKersie said in the statement. "We are pleased that Ms. Brush will remain in the district, shifting to this new role in administration for the Greenwich Public Schools.”

The district also announced three program coordinator appointments.

Sheila Cavale was named the program coordinator for the new K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics position. She had been the K-12 Science Coordinator, a position that has been eliminated.

Fran Kompar was named the program coordinator of Library and Media Services.

Jennifer Mitchell was named program coordinator for the new K-12 Humanities position. Her position combines the English/Language Arts and Social Studies program coordinator roles the district has now eliminated.

All appointments will be effective July 1.
