Greenwich Residents Earn Degrees From Union College

GREENWICH, Conn. - The following Greenwich students graduated from Union College Class of 2014 on Sunday, June 15 on Hull Plaza in Schenectady, N.Y.:

• Katherine Beale graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. Beale was a Psychology major.

• Alexander Papalian graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Papalian was a Environmental Science major.

• Lane Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Roberts was a Biology major.

The featured speaker was Dr. Deborah L. Birx, a renowned international expert in the field of HIV/AIDS. Appointed earlier this year by President Barack Obama as an ambassador-at-large and U.S. Global AIDS coordinator, she shared with graduates the deadly impact of AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa and other parts of the developing world in the late 1990s.

Union College, founded in 1795 in Schenectady, N.Y. as the first college chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers programs in the liberal arts and engineering to 2,100 undergraduates of high academic promise and strong personal motivation.
