Greenwich Public Schools Placed On College Boards AP District Honor Roll

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich Public Schools have been placed on the 5th Annual Advanced Placement District Honor Roll for increasing access to AP course work while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams.

The College Board gave the distinction to 547 school districts in the U.S. and Canada this year.

Since 2012, Greenwich Public Schools have increased the number of students participating in AP while improving the number of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher. This is the second consecutive year that Greenwich has landed on the AP Honor Roll. “I am proud to lead a district that prepares and encourages students to challenge themselves academically,” said William S. McKersie, superintendent of schools. “Greenwich is a high performing public school district; however, we do not sit on our laurels. We continuously strive to improve and have made concerted efforts to expand the participation of our students in Advanced Placement courses, and to prepare them to be successful in those courses. I am pleased and proud that the efforts of our staff and students have been recognized.”

Inclusion on the 5th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on the examination of three years of AP data spanning from 2012 to 2014 and focusing on 34 AP Exams including world language and culture.

Criteria include increased participation in AP by at least four percent in large districts, at least six percent in medium districts, and at least 11 percent in small districts; and increasing or maintaining the percentage of exams taken by African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and Alaska Native students.
