GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich Police will maintain an increased presence at all town public schools until the end of the week, according to a statement from Superintendent William McKersie.
McKersie, town officials and Greenwich Police will review safety and security measures to determine whether long-term changes or improvements need to be made.
"In visiting schools [Monday], I was heartened to see building leaders and staff greeting students and families, and classes running as scheduled," McKersie said in the statement. "I was deeply moved by the strength, fortitude and professionalism displayed by the Greenwich Public Schools staff at a time of great difficulty, to ensure that our students returned to a welcoming, safe environment that was as close to normal as possible."
McKersie said he was encouraged to see safety precautions in place and the visible police presence.
