Greenwich Middle School Lockers May Get Facelift

New lockers may be coming to students at Eastern and Central middle schools. Greenwich teachers urged First Selectman Tesei to scrap a $500,000 project to put Wi-Fi in all three middle schools and instead use it toward revamping the original lockers, which are still in use.

Tesei said the lockers are not designed to carry what students are using in school today. He announced the proposal at the Board of Selectman meeting Thursday. Central Middle School would get $240,000 and Eastern would get $260,000 for locker renovations. Tesei said he would adjust the capital budget and cut the $600,000 earmarked for the Wi-Fi installation.

Superintendent of School, Sidney Freud and Tesei will present the proposal to the Board of Estimate and Taxation on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
