Greenwich High School Student Wins Math Gold Medal In Romania

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Greenwich High School student will be honored by the Board of Education for winning a gold medal during a recent math competition in Romania.

Greenwich High School junior Michael Kural, center, received one of 10 Gold Medals in the 2015 Romanian Master of Mathematics (RMM) competition. The international competition was held in Bucharest, Romania from Feb. 25 to March 1.

Michael Kural, a junior, earned one of 10 Gold Medals in the 2015 Romanian Master of Mathematics (RMM) competition.

Kural and five other students from schools throughout the United States competed in Bucharest, Romania, against about 100 students from 17 countries.

Kural qualified to go to Romania based on his performance on numerous math tests and in the 2014 Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program

The Greenwich Public Schools Board of Education will honor Kural at its meeting Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Julian Curtiss School, 180 E. Elm St., Greenwich.
