Greenwich Announces New Western Middle School Assistant Principal

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Thomas Healy has been named the new assistant principal at Western Middle School, according to a Greenwich Public Schools statement.

Healy, the current assistant dean of student life for Clark House at Greenwich High, takes over the position effective Monday.

"Mr. Healy’s teaching and administration experience, his knowledge of Greenwich, and his strong leadership skills make him the ideal choice for Western Middle School," Greenwich Superintendent of Schools William McKersie said in the statement. "I am especially pleased by his dedication to help Western's staff, students and parents come together and push for outstanding results. Mr. Healy will be a great addition to [WMS Principal] Mr. Gordon Beinstein's leadership team."

Healy has taught in the Greenwich school district since 2000, first coming on as an instructional aide at Greenwich High. He became a social studies teacher at Greenwich High in 2004 and was named assistant dean in 2011.

Healy received a bachelor of science in anthropology from James Madison University, Harrisburg, Va. in 2000; a master of arts in teaching, secondary education from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn. in 2004; and administrators certification from the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education Graduate Program in 2011.
