“We are so excited that Mr. DeAngelo has agreed to be the 2015 Commencement Speaker. He is a Greenwich High School Alumnus, Class of 1975," said Senior Class President Julia Bunte-Mein. "He is an outstanding community and youth leader who has dedicated his life to giving back to others. We cannot wait to welcome him back to share his inspiring message."

High School headmaster Chris Winters was also pleased to have DeAngelo, a 1975 graduate of the school, back to speak.

“Bob has been a good friend to Greenwich High School for many years. Most of our graduates, at one point or another, spent time at the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club," Winters said. "They know how that institution, under the steady leadership of Bob, contributed to the person they are today.”

The graduation will be held on Thursday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the high school’s Cardinal Stadium.

DeAngelo returned to Greenwich to run the club after six years in the U.S. Navy followed by 16 years with Texas Instruments. He left the club in 2014.

DeAngelo worked closely with Greenwich Public Schools to support the needs of the children and families of Greenwich.

Before his work at the Boys & Girls Club, DeAngelo was director of international marketing for Europe/Middle East, based in Munich, Germany for Texas Instruments. He spent 16 years with the company in the aviation/aerospace sector in various positions and locations around the world from 1992 to 1998.

From 1978 to 1984, DeAngelo was a commissioned officer with the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Independence.

He received a bachelor of arts in chemistry at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., in 1979 and a master of arts in international relations from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., in 1993.

In case of bad weather on graduation night,  June 18, the commencement ceremonies will be held indoors in the GHS Student Center in two groups. Students with last names beginning with L-Z will begin at 4 p.m., and students with last names beginning with A-K will begin at 7:15 p.m.

While seating for the outdoor ceremony is unlimited and on a first-come, first-serve basis, each family will receive three tickets for use in case there is an indoor ceremony.
