The meeting will be held in the Alexander Hamilton High School Library at 8:30 a.m. and will include discussion on all aspects of the budget, of $32,111,848, which offers a 2.45 percent increase in expenditures of $768.703 over the previous budget of $31,343,145.
School Superintendent Joseph Ricca said the district's proposal "supports 100 percent of the district's current programming (academic, arts, technology and extra-curricular); provides for modest facilities repairs/refurbishments; allows for the needed purchase of a playground at the Dixson Primary School and holds clear the district's commitment to fiscal responsibility and conservative spending practices."
The average home with assessed value of $13,508 or estimated value of $394,000, would see an tax increase of $23.10 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Ricca said the proposed budget is in line with cost-saving increases and noted that the plan included more than $250,000 in reductions over the 2013-2014 budget increase of more than $1.1 million over the 2012-2013 budget.
The school board will vote on the adoption of its proposed budget on April 2 followed by a budget hearing on May 7 prior to the Budget Vote and Board Elections on May 20.
