Blumenthal Goes To Buzzfeed To Call For Cuts In Student Loan Rates

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., frustrated by the failure of Congress to prevent the doubling of student loan interest rates, didn't go to the Senate floor to call for a cut. He turned to Buzzfeed.

Blumenthal put forth his reasons in a meme- and gif-filled essay titled, "11 Reasons Why Congress Needs To Fix Student Loan Rates Now." 

In his introduction, he said, "I call on Congress to pass legislation that will retroactively prevent this de facto tax increase on young people already struggling under mountains of debt. At a time when Americans owe more than $1.2 trillion in student loans debt, the last thing we should do is make college more expensive for students and their families."
