Long Island Man Killed In Crash With Transit Bus

It happened on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at about 11:10 a.m. in Babylon, Suffolk County Police said. 

John Gordon, 83, of North Babylon, was driving a 2005 Honda Accord in the parking lot at 1 John St. when he drove the vehicle over the curb and into the westbound lanes of John Street. A westbound Suffolk County Transit bus struck the vehicle at approximately 11:10 a.m.

Gordon was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Babylon Fire Department and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. 

Neither the driver of the bus, Roberto Montenegro, 47, of Copiague, nor any of the passengers, were injured in the crash.
