Garfield man had sex with underage girl, indictment says

ONLY ON CVP: A grand jury in Hackensack returned an indictment yesterday containing a variety of sexual assault charges involving a 14-year-old girl against a Garfield man.

Anthony Novel Rentas, 27, remained held on $125,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, nearly ten months after his May 31 arrest by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and Garfield police.

The indictment charges Rentas with penile/vaginal penetration, digital penetration, giving and receiving oral sex and touching the girl’s breasts and buttocks.

It also charges him with impairing the morals of a minor.
