Officer Billy Crapara approached Christopher Tavarez, 26, on Anderson Avenue and Crescent Lane and immediately smelled marijuana, Police Chief Richard Gaito said Friday.

At headquarters, police found a warrant for failing to appear in Secaucus Municipal Court, Gaito said.

Tavarez was charged with possession with the intent to distribute drugs near School #4 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was ordered held on $15,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
