Winkelman was born in Tarrytown, to Harry H. and Delia (nee Griffin) Herguth. She was a longtime resident of Elmsford and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was a retired employee of General Motors Corp. in North Tarrytown.
Winkelman is survived by her sister, Veronica Campbell; sister-in-law, Lenore Herguth; sons, John Jr. (Sandi), Bruce (Elizabeth); and daughter, Paula; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John; daughter-in-law, Dorothy; four brothers; two sisters; sister-in-law, Katherine; nephew, Edward; and a grandniece, Kathy Wheeler.
Calling hours are Saturday April 27, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 E. Main St, Elmsford. The Funeral Ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kensico Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated May 11 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford.
