Thieves Snatch $300 Worth Of Shampoo At Darien CVS

DARIEN, Conn. – Two men stole nearly $300 worth of shampoo from the CVS in Darien, police said.

A man walked into the store Thursday afternoon from the Post Road entrance, went to the hair care aisle and grabbed four boxes of Kerastase Age Recharge shampoo, worth a total of $297.47. He walked back to the exit and handed the boxes to another man. According to reports, he saw the manager watching him and left the store, entering a black Toyota Camry parked on Center Street.

The theft was captured on the store’s video surveillance system, police said. The man who entered the store is described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and overweight. He was wearing a hat, glasses, a blue T-shirt, plaid shorts and black shoes. No description of the second man could be provided.

The following was also reported in the Darien police blotter:

• Several bikes were reported stolen in Darien last week, police said. One had been secured with a combination lock on the eastbound side the Darien train station at 10 a.m. July 19. When the owner returned at 11 a.m. July 24, the $500 bike was missing and there was no sign of the lock.

• Another bike was parked on the westbound side of the Darien train station July 24. The owner secured the $750 bike to a metal post with a lock. When he returned at 6:30 p.m., both the bike and the lock were gone. A third bike was left unsecured next to a Post Road building July 25. The owner placed the $1,500 bike next to a storage shed behind the building at 1:30 p.m., believing it to be out of view. When he returned at 2:30 p.m., the bike was gone.
