Norwalk residents are required to get their cars off the streets by 5 p.m., Wednesday as Mayor Richard Moccia has declared a snow emergency.
Vehicles that are parked in the city's snow emergency routes may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense.
There were 10 car accidents on streets and in parking lots by Wednesday afternoon, Norwalk Police reported.
According to city code, drivers cannot park on any snow emergency route when there is an accumulation of two or more inches of snow or ice for a period of one hour, or more between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., on any day.
To keep cars off the street, there is free parking at the Maritime Garage and the Yankee Doodle Garage.Snow is forecast to continue into Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, there could be more than a foot of snow on the ground, the National Weather Service says. But good news the sun is supposed to come out Thursday.
