The home is listed with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty.

An iron gate welcomes residents and visitors onto the over 2-acre private property at 23 King St., which boasts perennial gardens, expansive stone walls, a patio and waterfall. The 3,505-square-foot home contains features that are original to its 1879 construction. The residence’s expansive eat-in kitchen contains multiple unique features, including huge wooden beams, brick flooring, a fireplace and a pantry, as well as a breakfast nook.

Wilder is best-known for her “Little House on the Prairie” children’s book series published between 1932 and 1943. Inspired by Wilder’s childhood memories in a settler family, the books detail her many experiences and adventures. Lane assisted her mother in editing the works, which later became a popular media and television franchise.

“I am thrilled to be representing a home with such an inspiring history and style,” said Danbury agent Kim Gifford. “The residence exudes an unparalleled, old-fashioned charm that stays true to the past and also embraces the many modern luxuries of today. One can’t help but think of Wilder’s charming book series while on the grounds of this beautiful New England residence.”
