Four incumbents and two first-time candidates will run on the Democratic ticket.

“We are proud to nominate an outstanding team that reflects the diversity of New Rochelle and that possesses the experience, skill, and vision to move our entire community forward,” Democratic Party Chairperson Arnold Klugman said in a statement.

Leading the group is New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, under whom the city has all-time high local sales, one of the state's lowest tax rates and the lowest crime rates in 54 years on his record.

Luis Zepeda will run in District One against incumbent Lou Trangucci. Zepeda is a nine-year resident of the Residence Park neighborhood and is a general contractor.

City Council member Jared Rice will run again in District Three. The civil rights attorney won his last election with 87 percent of the vote.

Fellow City Council member Ivar Hyden will go after a second term in District Four, after working to improve the city's business climate.

District Five City Council member Barry Fertel will run again to remain the senior member of the council. Fertel has lived in the area for 32 years.

The District Six nominee will be first-time candidate Liz Fried, who previously served as the president of both the League of Women Voters and the Davis School PTA.
