FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) is continuing his "Connecticut in the Capitol" video series.

The initiative is a series of YouTube videos that highlight the state's historical connections to the U.S. Capitol Building.

In the latest video, Murphy features the Old Supreme Court Chamber in the Capitol, which is home to the bust of Windsor's Oliver Ellsworth, author of the Connecticut Compromise and the third chief justice of the United States. Ellsworth also served as one of Connecticut’s first two U.S. senators.

"The Old Supreme Court Chamber is also the site of the historic Amistad case that ultimately freed nearly 40 individuals that were captured and sold into slavery," a press release said. "These individuals seized control of the schooner Amistad, which ultimately docked in Connecticut where they stayed while their fated was decided by the Amistad case."

The U.S. Supreme Court is across the street from the Capitol building. The new building was designed by Cass Gilbert, who is also responsible for the design of the New Haven Free Public Library and the Waterbury Municipal Complex, representatives said.
