Greenwich Legislators Host Forum On Affordable Care Act

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Republican state Reps. Fred Camillo, Livvy Floren and Stephen Walko along with state Sen. L. Scott Frantz will host a forum on the Affordable Healthcare Act and Connecticut's Healthcare exchange at the Greenwich Town Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.

Linda Ziac, president of the Caregiver Resource Center, will be one of the primary speakers. She will discuss:

  • How the ACA expands access to mental health and substance abuse treatment for Americans; as part of the 10 "essential health benefits" in insurance plans, that took effect on Jan.1.
  • The way in which these changes will build on the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, and expand mental health and substance use disorder benefits and federal parity protections, for behavioral health to more than 62 million Americans.
  • The fact that case management functions - such as planning, assessing, care transitions and care coordination - are now recognized as a key component in improving the quality and efficiency of health care, preventing chronic disease, and improving public health.

Other panelists will include: Kevin Counihan, CEO of Access Health; and James A. Brunnetti II of Walsh/Brunnetti Internal Medicine Practice.
