Emily Fedorko, a 16-year-old Greenwich High School honor student, died while water-tubing on Long Island Sound off Greenwich Point. After falling off her tube, she was struck by the propeller of the boat that was towing it.

According to the Greenwich Police Department, the unnamed 16-year-old friend who drove the boat was properly licensed to operate it.

Greenwich Selectman Drew Marzullo, a paramedic who responded to the accident, told NBC Connecticut that making the state's boat licensing requirements similar to those governing vehicle licenses may be an option.
