Woman Who Went Through Red Light In Westport Above Legal Limit, Police Say

A Bridgeport woman is facing a drug charge after being busted drinking and driving through a red light by police In Westport with a painkiller in her wallet.

An officer from the Westport Police Department was on patrol at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday morning on Post Road West, when he spotted a vehicle traveling through the intersection at Wilton Road, disregarding the red traffic light, police said.

During the subsequent traffic stop on Post Road, the officer reported that the driver, Darlene Pagan, 31, was slurring her speech and proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, leading to her arrest. A breathalyzer later confirmed that Pagan was under the influence of alcohol.

While in custody, officers found marijuana and a paper containing a pill of oxycodone in her pocket, police said.

Pagan was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, misdemeanors. She was also cited for having no insurance and for blowing through the red light. Following arraignment, Pagan was released on $500 bail. She is due back in Norwalk Court next week to answer the charges.
