Woman Tries To Stab Family Member During Dispute, Greenwich Police Say

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A 25-year-old Port Chester, N.Y., woman is facing charges of attempting to stab a family member with a small kitchen knife during a dispute Tuesday morning at a Pemberwick residence, Greenwich police said.

Officers were called to the 17 Arther St. home shortly after 9 a.m. on a report that a woman had grabbed a knife and tried to stab another family member in the neck during a domestic dispute, police said.

Greenwich police didn't release the age or gender of the victim and said the dispute was over family issues.

Veronica Lopez Sanchez, of 227 Irving Ave., Apt. 1, is charged with one count each of first-degree reckless endangerment, threatening, disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief (for a broken necklace) and carrying a dangerous weapon. She was also charged with two counts of third-degree assault and three counts of risk of injury because three children were present at the time of the attack, police said.

She posted bond  and was released to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Wednesday.
