Warrant Issued For Arrest Of Suspect In Norwalk Murder

NORWALK, Conn. -- An arrest warrant has been issued for Vamond “Wooley King” Elmore in connection with the May 15 murder of Jimmy Martinez on Leonard Street in Norwalk, police said Wednesday morning.

The warrant signed Tuesday, May 27, in Stamford Superior Court says Elmore is wanted on the charges of murder, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and theft of a firearm.

Elmore, 37, is also currently being sought by the U.S. Marshal Service on a charge of federal violation of probation. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If he is seen, call 911.

Elmore is the suspect in the murder of Martinez, 43, who was shot to death at about 2:12 a.m. May 15 in the area of 18 Leonard St. near Isaac Street, police said. 

Police received a call from a driver who reported seeing a man down. Officers found Martinez lying on the pavement near SoNo Studios and the All-In Hookah Lounge. He had been shot to death. 

The shooting death was the fist homicide in Norwalk since October 2012.
