DARIEN, Conn. -- Someone smashed the windows of three cars parked on Post Road in Darien last week and stole wallets, purses, cash and other items, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 800 Post Road at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 on the report of three smash-and-grab motor vehicle burglaries.

The owner of a 2010 Acura MDX reported that she had been in the Bar Method studio between 7:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., and that when she returned to her car she discovered that the left rear window had been smashed and her wallet was now missing from the floor. The wallet was described as a silver colored Delux brand valued at $25. Also in the wallet was $10 in cash, a driver's license and six credit cards, police said.

Police spoke with the owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, who had also been in the Bar Method studio between 7:15 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. She said that when she returned to her car, she also found that a rear window had been smashed, and that her purse was missing. The purse was a black leather Italian purse, valued at $200. Inside was a red Marc Jacobs wallet valued at $200, as well as a driver's license and nine credit cards, police said.

The owner of a 2013 Toyota Highlander told police that her car had been parked in the lot between 7:36 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., and that when she returned to it she found that the front right passenger window had been smashed. Her wallet had been taken from the console area. The wallet was described as a light blue Kate Spade wallet valued at $50, which contained five credit and debit cards, a driver's license and a vehicle insurance card.

Police said that detectives also responded to the scene, and that the investigations are ongoing.
