Unidentified Man Struck, Killed While Crossing Road In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on High Ridge Road late Thursday, and Stamford police are asking for help in identifying the man.

The accident occurred on High Ridge Road (Route 137) near Olga Drive in a busy retail area near the Merritt Parkway.

The fatal accident occurred at 11:25 p.m. on High Ridge Road near Olga Drive on a retail section of the road near the Merritt Parkway, Stamford police said, 

A 2008 Toyota Prius traveling north on High Ridge Road hit the unidentified pedestrian, who was crossing High Ridge Road from west to east near the Burger King restaurant, police said. 

 The Prius struck the man, who was not within a crosswalk, police said. The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

The pedestrian was not carrying any identification and Stamford Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the victim. 

He is an Asian man, who is 60 to 70 years old,  with gray medium-length hair and a receding hair line. He is 5-foot-4 to 5-foot- 7 and weighs about 140 pounds. 

The man was wearing a blue button-down short-sleeve shirt over a brown button-down shirt, red pants and gray and blue Asics sneakers. He was wearing a white face Timex watch on his left wrist and a blue latex glove on his right hand. 

The driver of the Prius is a 65-year-old Stamford resident who stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.  The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating.
