UConn Professor Charged In Car Vandalism Spree In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A 46-year-old University of Connecticut associate professor was placed on administrative leave Tuesday after he was charged with vandalizing "high-end cars" while drunk in Greenwich, according to a report from NBC Connecticut.

Gabriel Fenteany, an associate professor in the Chemistry Department, became intoxicated at a friend’s house on Lafayette Court in Greenwich on the afternoon of Oct. 26, "then walked through nearby parking lots and vandalized a number of cars," according to the NBC Connecticut report.

Police told NBC Connecticut that Fenteany "spit and urinated on the cars, kicked them and ripped off side-view mirrors." The cars included Audis, a BMW, Lexus models and a Honda Civic. according to the report.

Fenteany was arrested at the UConn-Storrs campus and turned over to Greenwich police. He was charged with three counts of criminal mischief and one count of breach of peace, according to the report.
