Joseph M. McBride, of Norwalk, was charged with first-degree larceny in the case, police said.

On April 5, the Masonic Lodge reported $54,000 was missing from its accounts, said police, who launched an investigation.

From 2012 to 2016 McBride, treasurer of the lodge, used a debit card to draw funds and make purchases from the Masonic Lodge bank account without authorization, police said.

On Wednesday, May 17, McBride turned himself in to New Canaan police. He was held on $100,000 bond and taken to Norwalk Superior Court for an appearance.
