Tractor-Trailer Overturns Near Greenwich Town Hall

GREENWICH, Conn. -- UPDATED 1:15 p.m. A truck driver might have a reason to cry over spilt milk after his semi containing dozens of gallons of milk flipped on Field Point Road in Greenwich on Monday morning.

The truck flipped just a few hundred yards from Town Hall. The accident closed Field Point Road from Elm Street to West Putnam Avenue for nearly five hours.

Cleanup crews removed the jugs of milk, then turned the truck upright.

The driver sustained minor cuts and bruises and was taken to Stamford Hospital as a precaution, according to authorities on the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A tractor-trailer turned onto its side on Field Point Road just a few hundred yards from Town Hall, snarling downtown traffic Monday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was injured, according to the Greenwich Fire Department. Field Point Road is currently closed at West Putnam Avenue/Route 1.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Cleanup is expected to take all morning.
