GREENWICH, Conn. -- A tractor-trailer struck the overpass at King Street in Greenwich on Monday, closing the Merritt Parkway northbound to all traffic, according to Greenwich Police.
New York and Connecticut State Police have set up a bypass onto King Street in Greenwich to get traffic around the disabled tractor-trailer.
Traffic was quickly backing up from Greenwich into New York along the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Greenwich Police spokesperson Lt. Gray said that it will take at least an hour to clear out the truck. Gray expects the road to be cleared by rush hour later on Monday, he said.
Gray also recommended local Greenwich residents to avoid the King Street area near Route 15 until later on Monday.
