A Chipotle employee called Fairfield Police from a bathroom inside the Grasmere Avenue restaurant at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday to report that three men had entered the business after hours, police said. When officers arrived, employees said three men had held up the restaurant at gunpoint and drove off with thousands of dollars in cash, according to police reports.

None of the employees was injured, police say.

A Fairfield officer spotted a car that matched the employees’ description driving without lights nearby, but abandoned the chase after the suspects began driving recklessly, police say. Bridgeport Police later found the car at the scene of an accident in that city, police said.

The suspects’ car hit a parked vehicle on State Street Extension and rolled over onto its roof, according to police reports. Police arrested two suspects near the site of the crash, and two handguns were found in the car, police say.

Those two suspects were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, police said. The Fairfield Police K-9 unit later found the third suspect hiding in an unlocked Dewey Street home, according to the arrest report.

Randell Clark, 23, of Ely Avenue, Norwalk, and two juveniles were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, interfering with an officer and third-degree larceny.

Clark was also charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without a license.

One juvenile was also charged with possession of a pistol without a permit and reckless endangerment. The other juvenile also faces charges of first-degree burglary, risk of injury to a minor, altering the ID on a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit and reckless endangerment.

The juveniles were remanded into police custody and were taken to the juvenile detention facility in Bridgeport. Clark was due in court Monday morning after he was released from the hospital, police say.
