GREENWICH, Conn. — A New York City woman already accused of robbing a Greenwich bank last week is being investigated as a possible suspect in a New York City bank robbery that occurred two days earlier, according to Greenwich Time.
Meighan Marie McSherry, a lawyer and former public defender, was arrested after the Wells Fargo Bank on West Putnam Avenue was robbed Thursday afternoon .
The 46-year-old is now being investigated by New York City police, who are trying to determine if she also robbed the Chase bank branch at Broadway and 79th Street in Manhattan on Tuesday, according to Greenwich Time.
During Thursday’s robbery in Greenwich, McSherry is accused of passing a note to the teller, claiming to have a weapon and demanding money, police said. According Greenwich Time, the same tactic was used in the New York bank robbery by a woman with similar physical features.
Greenwich police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray told Greenwich Time that his department has been in contact with New York City police about a possible connection.
McSherry was arraigned in Stamford court Friday in connection with the Thursday robbery in Greenwich. She faces counts of first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
