Stamford Felon Sentenced To 3 Years For Gun Possession

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man with multiple felony convictions was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday for illegally possessing a firearm after police found guns and heroin at his home in 2015.

Caleeb Brown, 26, of Stamford was sentenced to 36 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the district of Connecticut.

According to court documents, on Oct. 8, 2015, Stamford Police searched Brown's home and found a .22 caliber handgun, a 6.35 mm pistol, 14 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, a quantity of heroin, and items used to package narcotics for distribution. Prior to the bust Brown was already a convicted felon for possessing narcotics with intent to sell, Daly said. It is a federal crime for someone convicted of a felony to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.

Brown has been in federal custody since Feb. 10, 2016. On Nov. 3 he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
