On Sept. 22, Joao Oliveira, of Leroy Place, Stamford, was pulled over just after midnight on Sept. 22 on Cherry Street, police said.

Oliveira was pulled over by an officer, who discovered that the license plate on Oliveira's 2002 Audi belonged to a 1997 Ford, police said.

The officer investigated the odor of marijuana coming from the car, which led to the discovery of marijuana as well as individually packaged small baggies of cocaine in the car, New Canaan police said.

Oliveira was arrested and charged with sale of certain illegal drugs and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, police said.

He was released on $5,000 bond for an appearance in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 5.
