Son Charged With Stealing $178K From Elderly Father In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich police arrested a Madison man Tuesday after his sister reported he stole $178,000 from their elderly father, according to greenwichtime.com.

Thomas Herrmann, 59, withdrew the money from various bank accounts in his father's name and controlled by his sister, greenwichtime.com reported. 

Hermann, who resides in a detox facility at an Ansonia psychiatric hospital, told staff he had a $1,000 per week cocaine habit and had debt collectors after him, greenwichtime.com said.

He is charged with  first-degree larceny, first-degree forgery and criminal impersonation and held on $100,000 bond, the report said.
