GREENWICH, Conn. An officer who apprehended a suspect in an investigation into counterfeit money has been named Greenwich's officer of the month.
Officer Robert Ferretti was patrolling the Riverside area in late August when a central Greenwich pharmacy reported receiving a counterfeit bill, police said.
Ferretti began checking pharmacies in his area. He spotted and detained a person matching the description of the suspect, police said.
Ferretti also developed probable the cause that the suspect and an accomplice had just used another counterfeit bill at a Riverside pharmacy, police said.
Ferretti's actions "resulted in: the arrest of a wanted criminal, the discovery of an unreported crime, the positive identification of an accomplice, the recovery of a facsimile firearm, but most importantly these suspects have been positively linked to a major counterfeiting investigation in other jurisdictions," the police department said in a statement.
