Registered Sex Offender, Former Teacher, Works in Greenwich

A former Ossining High School math teacher convicted of third-degree rape after having sex with an underage student, is serving his 10 year probation sentence in Port Chester, according to information provided by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

John M. Azabache, 35, who lives at 350 South Regent St., Apt. 3N, Port Chester, was arrested on the day he was supposed to get married to a White Plains woman, NBC News 4 reported at the time.

Azabache was arrested after the 16-year-old student's parents notified police of the sexual contact between the two, NBC News 4 said.

According to court records, the two had sex between March and July 1 of 2013. The encounters did not take place on school property.

He currently works at a Shell gas station in Greenwich.
