Police: Suspect Shot After Hitting Officer With Stolen Greenwich Car

GREENWICH, Conn. -- An 18-year-old stole a Lexus from Greenwich and hit a Waterbury police officer with it before being shot last week, according to Greenwich Time.

Rashmael Rogers was part of a ring of car thieves stealing vehicles from Greenwich and surrounding towns, police told Greenwich Time. On Thursday he was driving the stolen Lexus when he hit the Waterbury officer and struck a police car, Greenwich Time reported. He was shot twice and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Greenwich Time.

Rogers was charged with assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, disobeying a police officer, evading responsibility and felony larceny, Greenwich Time reported. He was held on a $250,000 bond.
