The Post reported that police searched the Putnam Ash Residue Landfill, which is operated by Wheelabrator Technologies and located in Putnam, Conn. Police told the Post that the site was searched to rule it out as a possible location, and that Wheelabrator was cooperating with investigators.

The Navins were last seen Aug. 4 and were reported missing three days later. An old truck belonging to the couple was found in Westport, but no sign of them has been seen.

Earlier this week state police took over the investigation, and conducted a search of the Bridgeport home of the couple's son, Kyle Navin. According to published reports, Kyle Navin has been named a person of interest in the case.

The Post also reports that Kyle Navin took off just days after being questioned by police. Neighbors told the Post that he packed his car and drove away about a week ago.
