GREENWICH, Conn. -- A 21-year-old man with tight lips but gaping knife wounds is at the center of a stabbing that police said occurred early Saturday at Armstrong Court in Greenwich.

The Norwalk resident was taken to Greenwich Hospital by acquaintances with life-threatening stab wounds from an altercation that took place shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Greenwich Police said.

The first police heard of the stabbing was when Greenwich Hospital notified them of a patient with life-threatening wounds, police said. No calls had been made to police by anyone about the altercation.

The man has provided very limited information about the stabbing, including who may have attacked him and why the attack occurred, police said.

He is recovering at Greenwich Hospital after undergoing surgery, police said.
