GREENWICH, Conn. -- A Greenwich woman attempted to steal a high-end pair of jeans from the Saks Fifth Avenue store on Greenwich Avenue on Sunday afternoon by hiding it in her baby stroller, police said.

Mary Meerbergen, 31, of 27 Richmond Drive, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device and impairing the morals of a child.

She had cut the anti-theft device from the jeans, placed them in the bottom of the baby stroller and then attempted to leave the store, police said. She was nabbed by store security before exiting, police said.

Police didn't release the age of the child involved or the child's relationship to Meerbergen.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on April 20.
