Police Arrest Man Spotted Rummaging Through New Canaan Office

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A out-of-state man spotted rummaging through an office building Monday afternoon allegedly had a key to the building and a passport in his possession when he was arrested, New Canaan Police said.

Charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny was Barry S. Atwood, 32, of 320 Duke St., Lancaster, Pa. He was held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Workers contacted police when they noticed a man rummaging through an office in the area of 220 Elm St. around 1 p.m., police said. He was detained and officers determined the man wasn't authorized to be in the building, police said.
