Police: Angry Greenwich Man Fires Starter Pistol At Construction Site

GREENWICH, Conn., -- An elderly Byram Shore Road resident angry about noise at a construction site near his home fired a starter pistol in frustration at the site on the evening of May 7, Greenwich police said.

Greenwich Police arrested an 86-year-old man on May 7 after he allegedly fire a starter pistol at a work site next to his Byram Shore Road home because he was irritated about noise at a construction site.

Robert Claude Mock, 86, of 185 Byram Shore Road, was charged with illegal use of a facsimile firearm, threatening, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment, police said.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a man fired a shot at the site and then fired twice more before returning to his home, police said. When officers arrived, they heard another shot as they were questioning the complainant and called in backup, police said.

Officers cleared the exterior of the building and ordered Mock to leave his home, police said.

Mock said he was irritated at the noise and wanted to make a lot of noise to annoy the workers but not to threaten them, police said.

Officers discovered the pistol could not fire a projectile, police said. Mock was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Wednesday.
