Norwalk Police: Suspected Drug Dealer Found With Crack In Her Mouth

NORWALK, Conn. – A Bridgeport woman was arrested with crack cocaine in her mouth Tuesday after she was named as a suspect in an investigation into drug dealing in the city, police said.

The Norwalk Police Department’s Special Services Division targeted Tyrah Gilbert, 22, in an investigation into crack sales in the Norwalk. On three occasions over the last few months, she was contacted by undercover officers and arranged to sell crack cocaine to the officer, according to police reports.

“She was a drug dealer at the street level,” said Lt. Jim Walsh, head of the Special Services Division.

Officers spotted Gilbert on South Main Street on Tuesday afternoon and arrested her on a warrant, police said. When she was arrested she had 13 rocks of crack cocaine hidden in her mouth, Walsh said. She spat out the drugs when confronted by police and was arrested without incident, according to the police report.

Gilbert was charged with three counts of the sale of narcotics one count each of possession of narcotics, with added charged for being within 1,500 feet of a school during some of the incidents. She was held on $200,000 bond, and is due in court on Sept. 26.
