Calvin Richardson, 27, was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics, sale within distance of a school, illegal possession near a school, and use of highways by pedestrians. He was held on $25,000 bond and will appear in court Sept. 10.

Police said that Special Services members were on patrol in the area of South Main Street and Raymond Street at about 8 p.m. Monday when they spotted Richardson and his brother, Joe Richardson, 25, of Stamford, jaywalking across South Main Street.

The officers recognized the two from past encounters, and knew them to be involved in drug transactions, according to police. The two were stopped and interviewed, police said.

Police said that Calvin Richardson was breathing heavily but said he didn't have anything illegal on him and consented to a pat-down. When officers patted him down, they found a large bulge on the side of his pants, and determined that he had a hidden compartment sewn on the outer section of his underwear, according to police reports.

Police opened up the hidden compartment and found 96 pieces of crack cocaine individually wrapped in Ziploc baggies, according to police. Police also discovered that Joe Richardson had a warrant out for his arrest for second-degree breach of peace. Both men were taken into custody.
