Norwalk Man Charged With Assaulting Officers At Police Station

NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man who came to police headquarters to turn himself in on a warrant suddenly began screaming and causing a disturbance that ended with him hitting a police officer and getting Tasered, according to the Hour.

Police told the Hour that 32-year-old Anthony Kelly came to the Norwalk Police Department on Monday morning to surrender himself on a warrant for failure to appear. For unknown reasons, he began yelling at the desk officer and spitting, and when more officers arrived he became combative and hit an officer, according to the Hour.

He then lay on the floor and began shaking, and he kicked and spat at officers, the Hour reported. He was Tasered twice before being taking into custody, according to the Hour.

Kelly was charged with three counts of assault on a peace officer, as well as  first-degree failure to appear and second-degree failure to appear. He was given a $80,000 bond and a July 21 court date.
