Police were called to a home on Canoe Hill Road on Saturday evening on a report of an assault between two residents. When they arrived, they met with the victim, who was very shaken and had blood on her forehead, according to police reports.

The woman told police that 24-year-old Elizabeth Skae had become very upset when she could not find her wallet, and had thought the other woman had stolen it, police said. She then picked up a wood candle holder and hit the other woman in the head with it, causing a laceration, according to police.

The woman who was hit was taken to Stamford Hospital, where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries, police said. Skae was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She was held on a $20,000 bond and will appear in court Monday.
