The suspect "lured elderly resident outside under the guise of doing tree work," the New Canaan police said. The man entered the house, and items were stolen, police said.

The burglary was near the Merritt Parkway, police said.

The suspect was described as an Hispanic man, 30 to 40 years old and wearing a long-sleeved white T-shirt, police said.

The suspect lured the resident out of the home, police told the New Canaan Advertiser, saying his property could use some “tree work."

The suspect persuaded the resident to go outside and look the property while some others robbed the house, police told the Advertiser.

If you see the suspect or have any information on the robbery, call New Canaan Police at 203-594-3500.
